Here we start using loopback processing.Loopback processing is used in special cases in which the computer must have the same policy and environment regardless of who logs on. Think of a loopback process as a way toapply group policy to a computer rather than an individual user. You could use this setting in a public kiosk setting or a reception area.
Loopback processing is configured within the Group Policy Management Console (GPMC) in the User Group Policy loopback process mode policy setting (in the Computer Configuration\Policies\Administrative emplates\System\Group Policy hierarchy). This setting has two modes of operation:
- Merge mode The user’s and computer’s GPOs are merged, and any conflicting policies use the computer’s policy to override the user’s setting.
- Replace mode The user’s GPOs aren’t gathered at all; only the computer’s GPOs are applied.
