Migrating domains means restructuring the resources between domains, either within or between forests. The Active Directory Migration Tool (ADMT) assists in domain migration. It can assist with interforest domain restructure, which migrates domains between forests, such as when two organizations merge. The ADMT tool can also assist with intraforest domain restructures, which are migrations of domains within a forest. This might be done to reduce overhead of managing multiple domains or to reflect organizational changes.
The considerations listed in Table 4-3 all pertain to domain migration.
